Ken & Kayla’s autumn wedding at Stone Ridge Hollow was the kind of perfect day you never forget. The venue is absolutely stunning – it’s tucked away in the countryside of rural northern Maryland with its own beautiful pond and fountain, surrounded by peaceful mountain and pastoral views. The building has a warm, rustic charm with exposed wooden beams and chandeliers. I love the word “bucolic”, and it’s so fitting for this place: “relating to the pleasant aspects of the countryside and country life.” On Ken & Kayla’s wedding day, the overcast November skies gave everything a soft, dreamy glow, which gave our photos a film-like quality that makes them feel like something out of a storybook. One of my favorite moments was when we were surprised with a hot air balloon that flew overhead, low enough for us to hear!
Ken & Kayla put a lot of fun personal touches into their celebration, which made it feel really special. I thought their wooden florals were a pretty and creative choice, they’ll never wilt or decay like traditional cut flowers, but look much nicer than other artificial ones. Kayla also had a unique request for her photos – she had brought along a green pumpkin that she wanted to include because matched her wedding colors perfectly! It was the perfect addition to her detail shots, and fit perfectly with the soft autumn vibes.
The whole day was filled with love and emotion, and I was honored to be there and capture it. When Ken first saw Kayla coming down the aisle, he couldn’t hold back tears, and their private vows were very sweet and touching. And I loved the heartfelt speech one of Ken’s groomsmen gave – they’ve been friends since they were kids! Ken & Kayla are really a joy to be around, and it’s obvious they’re well loved by so many people. I’m so grateful to have been a part of their special day that was filled with love, family, and friendship, and I’m excited to share some of my favorite photos below!
