I love getting to be a part of ANY couple’s love story, but it’s an extra treat when I get a chance to work with family! Morgan is my cousin, and this session made me think about how happy I am to see how far she and Austin (and I) have come in the past several years. Back when my photography business was brand new, Austin and Morgan had just started dating, and I did a mini photo session with them at the Outer Banks to practice and build my portfolio. We’ve grown and accomplished so much since then and I’m so proud of all of us. Our whole family loves Austin – he’s a great person, an endless well of good conversation, and has an awesome sense of humor.
We chose Hampton Mansion National Historic Site for their engagement photo session. It’s a gorgeous, elegant place with gorgeous gardens and massive old trees, and of course as a photographer I love the neutral colors and the large amount of background options which gave us some wonderful variety for our photos. The light was absolutely beautiful too, and we were fortunate to have some lingering fall color in the trees. We ended up with a HUGE gallery of photos because there was so much to shoot and everything was just so pretty it was hard to narrow it down! We had some nice sunshine but we could definitely feel the November chill. Some of my favorite photos from the session are of Morgan laughing because the cold air was making Austin sniffle in her ear during what were supposed to be romantic moments! They are such a fun, playful couple – our time together was a blast, and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding at Wyndridge Farm and officially welcome Austin to the family!
