Before I had even held a camera and long before I knew it would be what I ended up doing professionally I went to high school with Oksana. In fact, we rode the same bus… and we lived 5 minutes from each other. Well like it often does, life takes people in different directions and people lose touch after school, and that’s what happened here. So when I got an email from someone with the same last name helping their daughter Oksana look for a wedding photographer it was pretty exciting to have the prospect of capturing the wedding of someone I knew in the past!
Justin and Oksana, through no fault of their own, came to me somewhat last minute needing a photographer for their Friday wedding and after chatting and hearing a bit about their wedding plans, I was SO excited that I was still available. Despite the last-minute booking (and literally shooting their engagement photos 6 days before their wedding), everything went off without a hitch, thanks to the great team they had to help. Not only did the entire wedding day turn out great, but it has turned out to be one of my favorite galleries I’ve delivered.
One of the things that got me so excited, besides the fact that I knew from our first meeting that Justin and Oksana would be a blast to work with, was the venue they chose. Their wedding was held in late summer at the elegant Springfield Manor in Frederick, Maryland. With the beautiful mountains as their backdrop, It was the perfect setting to gather all their friends and family to celebrate their wonderful special day.
To Justin and Oksana – As a photographer, my mission is to not just capture the visual details of your wedding day (which were stunning by the way) but to also preserve the emotions and experiences shared between the couple and their loved ones. Within minutes of being around you two, it was clear to me that you are the best of friends. From the jokes that you guys share (like when Justin opened his vow book during your wedding ceremony and a LONG page comically unrolled out of the back) to the looks you shared between locations at our engagement shoot, you two have a joyful love that I know will always stay the cornerstone of your relationship. Thank you and your families so much for including me and trusting me to capture your stunning wedding day!
Looking back at these photos, I’m reminded of the elegance of their event, the beauty of Springfield Manor, and the joy on the faces of all their loved ones. I hope you enjoy a sampling of this great day!
